Luke Kneale was born in Sydney (Australia) in 1978. His love for
photography began at age 15, drawing inspiration from classical
Australian artists such as David Moore and Max Dupain. He studied
photography at school and began photographing the streets of Sydney in
black and white, quickly developing an extensive portfolio.
He began to take photography more seriously in 2004 and launched
saltwater photography with a view to specialising in large-format
professional photography. His work is already being sold globally, with
resellers jumping to distribute it.
Luke has travelled the Australian continent extensively, from the
tropical climates of far North Queensland, to the snowy peaks of
Tasmania, to the serenity implicit in the far reaches of Western
Australia and the Australian outback. Also travelling abroad, he has
photographed remarkable landscapes in countries all around the world and
taken part in expeditions to islands of the pacific and southeast Asia.
Luke was photographing Phi Phi Island and Khao Lak beach less than three
weeks prior to the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami which devastated the southern
beaches of Asia.
Luke’s photography can best be described as vibrant, modern glimpses of
life.
